Board of Directors

Are you interested in becoming a board member?

The minimum commitment of Board members is to participate in a monthly two-hour meeting. The sobriety requirement for ABA members to join the Board is 1 year of continuous sobriety.

The General Service Association of Anorexics and Bulimics Anonymous is an elected board mandated to serve the needs of the membership of ABA worldwide. It functions to protect the unity of the ABA Fellowship by encouraging Groups to adhere to ABA’s Twelve Traditions. The General Service Association shall always function only as a service board, never as a governing body except on matters of policy or finance that are liable to impact on Anorexics and Bulimics Anonymous as a whole.

The General Service Association is not synonymous with Anorexics and Bulimics Anonymous. Rather, it is a legally incorporated Board of Directors that together are the servant of ABA, and its decisions and actions are governed by the collective ABA group conscience, which in turn represents the authority of a Higher Power speaking through it.

All GSA-ABA members are elected by the Fellowship of ABA at an Annual General Meeting held each year in March. They serve finite terms of office as laid out in the Society’s bylaws, and they are governed by these bylaws.

The responsibilities of a Board Member is to attend the monthly board meeting – currently set for the 3rd Sunday of each month, unless it has been changed due to a holiday or sometimes summer months.

If you would like to offer 2 hours of your time at least per month to serve on the board, please reach out to the office or board members so that you can be nominated for service by filling out the form below.
