Registration Form For ABA Meetings and Groups
Any two or more people gathered together for the purpose of recovery from anorexia and/or bulimia may call themselves an ABA group, provided that they use the 12-Step Program of Anorexics and Bulimics Anonymous as presented in our basic text (Anorexics and Bulimics Anonymous: The Fellowship Details Its Program of Recovery For Anorexia and Bulimia © 2002) and provided that, as a group, they have no other affiliation or purpose.
When you have been meeting consistently for at least three months, please register yourselves with the GSA as a “Meeting” by completing the attached form as fully as possible. Please fill out the registration form below which will be submitted to the office. You will receive a copy in your email for your records. We hope to give everyone around the world as much support for recovery as we can, so please let us know of your existence.
We suggest that, if you have recently started holding ABA meetings, you wait for six months before registering yourselves as an ABA “Group”. The latter term implies stability and a solid core of members who are sober in their eating and who have made an ongoing commitment to continue to show up, not only for themselves and their personal sobriety, but also for the newcomer to whom they may carry a message of hope. This is after all, according to Tradition Five, the primary purpose of every ABA group.
Please notify the Operations Manager of the General Service Association of any changes as they occur, preferably by emailing an updated version of your registration form. It is important for the GSA to stay current, so that accurate information can be passed on to enquiring newcomers. Additionally, we need to be able to contact you with important notices, newsletters, etc. Communication within the worldwide Fellowship of ABA is vitally important and is one of the main purposes of the GSA, so please keep us informed about what is going on with your group! When we receive your registration, we will send out a package of basic information that we hope will prove helpful and information on how to get it listed on the website if you choose.
