Welcome to ABA
ABA uses the Twelve-Step Program adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous to address the mental, emotional, and spiritual components of the disorders of anorexia and bulimia. Many people who identify compulsive overeating as the primary component of their eating disorder have been able to relate to our program and have found recovery through it. They are welcome to participate in our Fellowship.
By following the Twelve Steps we have come to a deep level of freedom from our deadly obsessions with body weight and shape and with food, obsessions that once dominated our minds and dictated the course of our lives. We learn in ABA that our eating disorders are a form of addiction, that the key to recovery is to find sobriety in our eating and exercise patterns, and that none of us can do that alone.

To the ABA Fellowship:
It has come to the attention of the General Service Association (GSA) that our textbook has been stolen by parties unknown and is being sold illegally on Amazon.ca and Amazon.com as both a print-on-demand book and as an eBook. It is also illegally available for sale on a variety of other websites. On these sites, as well as on Amazon, a couple of different companies have been falsely noted as publishers of our book.
All of these activities are of a criminal nature and deprive the GSA of all revenue from the sale of these stolen versions of our book. You are probably aware of our dependence on sale of our literature for the continued functioning of ABA as a whole.
All of this was discovered shortly after the GSA had decided to convert our textbook to eBook format and sell it through the two Amazon sites. This conversion process has just now been completed.

Given these serious developments, the executive committee of the Board met urgently and charted an initial course of action. We will contact Amazon, inform them that the GSA owns the copyright on ABA’s book, and ask them to cease and desist selling both plagiarized versions of our book (the eBook and the print-on-demand). We will also attempt to communicate the same messages to the companies named as publisher on the websites illegally peddling our book.
Going forward, the GSA will proceed with further action against these criminals, once the Board as a whole has had an opportunity to discuss the matter.
For now, we ask all ABA members to refrain from purchasing our textbook through any of the websites noted. To make such a purchase is to support these criminal activities and to put your money into the pockets of thieves rather than into the coffers of ABA.
In the near future, we will make our own eBook edition available for sale through our own website (aba12steps.org). PLEASE MAKE ALL PURCHASES OF THE ABA TEXT (HARD COPY OR eBOOK) THROUGH OUR WEBSITE ONLY.
Thank you for supporting us in this matter, which affects the common good of us all. Any concerns or questions may be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org.

Currrent Situation with COVID-19
To the fellowship,
During this time of COVID-19 things are rapidly changing. We trust that everyone is taking good care and that each meeting is making autonomous decisions regarding how to keep everyone safe. Some live meetings have gone online and others have closed temporarily. If you have a change to your meeting such as a temporary closure, please email the office so that we can update the website.
If you are meeting live, then you may, as a group, decide not to hold hands at the end in prayer but instead to just pray next to each other. Feel free to take the actions that fit for you and your group and remember that we need to keep ourselves healthy and we also need to keep others that might be more vulnerable safe as well.
We have been told that due to closures of institutions that there is an increased demand for the services of Zoom rooms. Due to that, the Zoom system has been quite busy and there have been some connection issues with our virtual meetings. Therefore, we have instituted a back up system to connect for the AGM in case we run into problems. Please see the Board & Committees page for the information.
Also, know that orders that come into the office may take longer than usual as we face the slowing down of services. We ask for your patience with this.
Remember to use all of our tools to connect with each other while taking precautions. Use your phone and email to stay connected as we all may need increased support in that way during this turbulent time. We can pray and meditate to stay grounded as well.
Be well everyone.
